"Richard Bruxvoort Colligan has a true gift for envisioning the future of community prayer. He is not only a talented musician and composer, he is someone who combines an understanding of the deep theological and scriptural roots of liturgical prayer with a sense of how worship must be engaged in the life of the world. His enthusiasm for encouraging the sung prayer of the congregation is authentic and infectious."

Hi.

Richard here. Just thought I'd introduce myself a bit, since you were so kind as to stop by the site.

Besides being a son (you probably suspected that), I'm a husband to Trish, and father to three-year-old son Sammy. We live in Strawberry Point, Iowa where Trish and I are both full-time independent consultants. Trish does Spiritual Director kinds of things. I do Liturgical Theology kinds of things. We are both musicians, often together.

family I am a composer, a liturgical theologian, and the head pancake-maker of our house. I do laundry. I move, I sing, I climb, I dodge, I nap. This summer Trish and I shingled our roof, and I am still sore (no matter what month of 2004-05 you are reading this, it will still likely be true).

I make my way in the world as one with Christian roots whose practice is informed most recently by my MA studies in Theology and the Arts at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities. I write congregational songs --hymns, chants, service music -- for a variety of settings. My passion is for what I call "worldmaking" congregational song for the emerging church.

I grew up Missouri Synod Lutheran, and cherish my liturgical roots. I was also raised on Beatles, 80's pop, and ragtime music, and I cherish those roots, too.

Favorites: blue, autumn, Zen books, James Taylor, sleep, the number three, The Beatles, chocolate, Star Trek TNG, sky.

Here are values I hold in all situations and offer to those with whom I am affiliated:
