THE SEED SONG (A JESUS PARABLE)
Matthew 13.31-32

09 The Seed Song (Jesus' Parable).mp3

1
There's a seed lying here in the soil,
A tiny seed lying here in the soil.
And in that seed there's a promise of something great
that no one can see.

2
One day the roots break out and dive down,
Growing deep to hold it in the earth
From the seed that's lying there in the soil,
And in that seed there's a promise of something great
that no one can see.

3
Soon a stem pokes up from the earth,
Springing up to sing a little song,
And the roots are growing deep to hold it in the earth,
From the seed that's lying there in the soil,
And in that seed there's a promise of something great
that no one can see.

4
Then little buds appear on the stem,
Which stretch into lively little shoots
From the stem that's sprouted up to sing a little song,
And the roots are growing deep to hold it in the earth,
From the seed that's lying there in the soil,
And in that seed there's a promise of something great
that no one can see.

5
Now every shoot bears leafy, leafy leaves
Leafy, lush, big bunches of green
That came from the buds that stretched into shoots
From the stem that's sprouted up to sing a little song,
And the roots are growing deep to hold it in the earth,
From the seed that's lying there in the soil,
And in that seed there's a promise of something great
that no one can see.

Now in time our shrub will grow, grow, grow
into a tree with great big leafy branches
reaching to the sky, sky, sky
Which is seen from high above by a family of birds flying 'round
looking for a home, home, home.
And the birds decide to build their nest in the tree

With the great big branches reaching to the sky
And the lush green bunches of leafy, leafy leaves
That came from the buds that stretched into shoots
From the stem that sprouted up to sing a little song
And the roots are growing deep to hold it in the earth
From the seed that broke open there in the soil
And in that seed was the promise of something great
that no one could see.

Until now.
