TO EMMAUS
Luke 24.13-35

04 To Emmaus.mp3

One foot in front of the other
In time with my brother
Down this long, dirt road
Shared misery
How could it be
That our Jesus is gone?

We said goodbye on the hill
Hand-in-hand, stricken still by disbelief in it all
Now we walk, heads hung low
Going home, home to Emmaus

Suddenly, out of the blue
Another man is walking, too
Now we are three on the road
He asks "What's this story you tell
Of your sad farewell?"
I say, "Our Jesus is gone!"

"We said goodbye on the hill.
We're sorrowful, and stricken still by disbelief in it all."
Now we walk, three on the road
Going home, home to Emmaus

Home at Emmaus, we share a meal together
Our new friend breaks the bread in prayer
And with his blessing our eyes are unclouded
And we see, we see!

Yes, we said goodbye on the hill
Under the moon so dark and still but that was not to be the end
He's alive here in our hearts, close and near
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
