The
Worldmaking song cycle was part of Richard's MA thesis at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities. Excavating the liturgical tradition, this music flowed out of both the historical research (particularly in the case of the Kyrie, the Sanctus, the Nunc Dimittis and the Eucharistic liturgy) and the spiritual practice of integrating a 21st-century imagination with these ancient pieces.

Worldmaking Reviews

Inspiring, transforming, life-giving, and full of the love of God. AND it can be sung by the whole congregation.

Pastor Don Portwood

Lyndale UCC, Minneapolis, MN

Contemporary, yet grounded in Biblical tradition; easy to learn, but not simplistic; relevant and powerful.

New liturgical pieces that invite the congregation to cry to God for help, raise their voices in praise, and to respond to the Word.

Richard's ability to balance personal and communal spirituality with intelligent liturgical theology brings welcome additions to the repertoire of congregational song. Richard's work proves that elegant simplicity and theological depth are not mutually exclusive.
